About me

As a National Chess Master and Varsity Swimmer, I developed mental and physical endurance required for peak performance under pressure. I use and refine these systems daily: from 7 AP/IB class courseload, to Presidency of the National English Honor Society, to coordinating humanitarian aid internationally, I push my community and myself to leave the greatest impact possible.Off the clock, I am half-cowboy. Seriously, I rock full-on Wrangler-jeans Lakota-fringe thick-belt fit! My 10 years on a farm mean weekend hikes and constantly open windows: fresh air makes minds sharper.

My approach

Foundation First:

I build strong thinking from the basics – no bandaids, no shortcuts. Once the foundation solidifies, improvement is linear.

System > intuition:

Every question has a system – formula, clear steps, definite answer. No guessing. This approach makes improvement consistent and measurable.

Peak Performance:

Drawing from 10+ years of professional chess and swimming, I maximize peak performance on the test day.

Student testimonials

Adaptable, friendly, quick. We went through the results of a practice exam and he adjusted his lesson plans to prioritize what I needed, not what was planned. We went through it question by question until I understood everything I missed. Super friendly, listens to students, and simplifies complex ideas into easy, memorable steps. Scheduling weekly from now until the June SAT – I'd recommend anyone do the same.

Damian is a clear and informative communicator. I really appreciate how timely he is with responses and how he thinks out the plan for tutoring. He has kept me abreast of what is going on throughout the process and has a study plan for future steps.

I tried a couple of the problems with the steps you taught and my accuracy has increased by a lot!

I first met Damian through our AP Seminar class junior year. He immediately struck me as someone with an insatiable thirst for knowledge who loved sharing it. The following year I took AP Physics C: E&M with him – one of the hardest classes our school offers – and he never shied away from helping me understand a problem or working through a solution together. He's everything you could ask for in an SAT tutor: his English and Math prowess cover a wide range of skills, and he'll walk you through them step by step. His tutees are very lucky to have him.

I met Damian through our high school swim team freshman year, and he has quickly become one of my closest and most trustworthy friends. He is one of the most thorough, helpful, dependable, and patient people I know. When I decided I needed to improve my SAT score, Damian didn't skip a beat – he gave me all his resources and recommendations, plus advice on exactly what to work on. This, along with the many other times I've come to him for help, is why I couldn't recommend him more.

Damian has been my good friend for 2.5 years. He has a strong passion for math (a member of the math honor society) and English (president of the English honor society), so he knows his stuff when it comes to SAT prep. But it isn't just his knowledge that speaks volumes – it's his love for helping others and his ability to click with people. If you choose Damian as your tutor, you are in good hands!

He broke down the vocab-in-context questions in a way that was easily digestible, even if you'd known none of the words. He actually tries to understand how and why someone chose the wrong answer and gears his explanation toward that mistake. He even shared the slides he used and a Quizlet deck of common SAT vocab words. A very easy-to-understand lesson.
